2022 HMAS PARRAMATTA II
The 27th of November 2022, 11:00 am, marked the 81st anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Parramatta II. One of the lesser-known tragedies of WWII is the sinking of the Grimsby class sloop HMAS Parramatta in the early hours of the 27th of November 1941 while escorting a convoy, hit by a torpedo fired from the German submarine U559. The service honours the sacrifice and pays respect to the 138 men lost when HMAS Parramatta II was sunk off Libya.

At 11:00am on 11 November 1918 the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The moment when hostilities ceased on the Western Front became universally associated with the remembrance of those who had died in the war.
