2022 HMAS PARRAMATTA II
Memorial Service
The 27th of November 2022, 11:00 am, marked the 81st anniversary of the sinking of HMAS Parramatta II. One of the lesser-known tragedies of WWII is the sinking of the Grimsby class sloop HMAS Parramatta in the early hours of the 27th of November 1941 while escorting a convoy, hit by a torpedo fired from the German submarine U559. The service honours the sacrifice and pays respect to the 138 men lost when HMAS Parramatta II was sunk off Libya.
